Best Video Strategy

This award places emphasis on advertising campaigns that have achieved outstanding marketing results with the use of video solutions and ideas. To be eligible for submission, the video must be co-produced with Oath or is an advertising campaign that leverages on the power of Yahoo TV or Yahoo Live or other Oath’s video platforms to attract target audience and saw outstanding results.

Best Programmatic Campaign

Programmatic advertising is a keen focus of marketers in recent years. It improves marketing efficiency on reaching target customers. This award recognizes outstanding ad campaigns that rode on Oath Audience Ads and BrightRoll in optimizing marketing ROI and business results.

Best Mobile Strategy

With escalating mobile usage locally and globally, “mobile first” strategies has been a growing emphasis in Oath and, truthfully, in any business..This award recognizes mobile advertising campaigns that use Oath’s advertising solutions such as Display, Native, Video and Branded Content that elevate user experience on mobile devices.

Best Native Ad Campaign

Native advertising is the latest spotlight in digital marketing. Defined as an online advertising format whereby the advertiser grabs user attention with content that blends seamlessly with the advertising environment. The award recognizes creativity and the excellent use of Native Ad formats and/or features that achieve campaign objectives and business results.

Best Native Ad Campaign (For SME)

With the rise of content marketing, native advertising is like the must-have accessory that won’t go out of fashion. This award recognizes small and medium-sized enterprises (under 100 employees) that have achieved impressive results through an original Native Ad campaign on Oath. The native ad campaign must have ran on the Oath network.

Best Search Campaign

This award recognizes search campaigns that have well-orchestrated search strategies and make good use of various search marketing solutions to achieve campaign objectives, such as driving offline sales, brand building, capitalizing buzz and integrating search with off- and online media. The winning campaign should demonstrate a distinct creativity in its use of search and its implementation of various search solutions.

Big Idea Chair Champion (Not for Entry)

This is the grand prize that honors advertisers who have adopted Oath advertising solutions across its network to create campaigns throughout the year that have not only driven and achieved desired marketing objectives, but have also made a substantial impact on the advertising industry.

Media Agency of the Year (Not for Entry)

This award places emphasis on an agency's efforts on providing professional account servicing skills and media planning/buying strategies to deliver quantifiable results for their clients. The award is given to the agency that has consistently excelled in every area of discipline.

Winners will be determined partly by marketers’ votes and partly by the total score the agency has received in this year’s Awards.

Advertising Agency of the Year (Not for Entry)

This award recognizes the creativity of an agency that demonstrates the most creative and innovative ideas for advertising work.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

For campaign videos, entrants should provide a URL of where the work is hosted. Please provide a user name and/or password if access is protected.

Sites or files that cannot be accessed due to incorrect usernames, passwords or bad links will be treated as invalid entries.

To facilitate the judging process, please ensure the site to your entry is active from the time of submission to the end of December 2018.

Note that the Entry Form and Template are used to provide information on any awards given and therefore must be filled out accurately. Entrants must fill in all sections of the Entry Form and Template in English. Contact Information collected from the Entry Form is not for commercial purpose. Oath Hong Kong will contact the entrants in case of queries of their submission and will notify the entrants if they have won the awards via email and/or phone call.

Entries will be judged by the judging panel and will be judged based on the respective criteria.

How to use the Submission Template?

First, select the award category appropriate for your campaign and fill in the required information (Company Logo, Entry Video Link, Campaign Summary which includes campaign background, objectives, strategies, tactics and results).

Then, clearly explain the rationale and strategies behind your ad campaign with relevant screen caps and URLs as supporting information to convince the judges why you should win. Refer to the fields of the table for guidelines and add new slides if necessary.

When you’re done, fill in the Entry Form and submit your submission template.

Jimmy Poon is the Lead for the Programmatic Committee for the HK IAB.  Jimmy has over 20 years of experience in digital marketing, ranging from founding Tribal DDB, one of the earliest digital agency networks in Greater China, to running Puca Mobile, a first European mobile platform in Beijing, to heading IPG Mediabrands Ventures, Interpublic Group's ventures division in China, to now expanding BLIS, a global DSP's offerings to include location data analytics.

Jimmy received his MBA from The Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto, and a rather unusual combination of a Double Major from the University of Toronto for Fine Arts and Animal Behaviour.

Angela is the Head of Marketing in Citibank. In her current role, she oversees branding, marketing communications, research functions and leads all advertising campaigns for Citi's Consumer Banking including banking, credit card and unsecured lending to drive brand preference and business growth. Throughout her tenure, she has consistently pushed the boundaries to uplift Citi’s brand awareness and brand preference by launching impactful and effective marketing campaigns. She drove social media excellence by spearheading the launch of Citi Hong Kong Facebook page in 2016 and led Citi to being honored as one of the “Most Influential Brand of the Year” by Facebook Hong Kong in 2017.

Angela has an extensive advertising background. Before joining Citibank, she was the Group Brand Director for P&G SKII at Leo Burnett, overseeing the Greater China business, covering advertising & branding, consumer research and launch strategies. She received the “Star Reacher Award” recognition in 2013 in Leo Burnett Hong Kong.

Angela is also a committee member of the Hong Kong Advertisers Association.

As the Deputy Director - Customer & Brand Promise, Celine has a strategic role in managing the CLP Brand as well as the overall customer experience. In order to create an aligned and consistent experience across different touch points in the entire customer journey, she has to mobilise support from key internal and external stakeholders to uplift the Brand experience. She manages four branches, including Brand Development, Digital & Social Media Communications, Marketing Communications and Customer & Brand Engagement.

Prior to joining CLP, Celine had extensive marketing experience in both airline and banking industries, including Cathay Pacific Airways and Standard Chartered Bank. Besides, she is the Vice- Chairman of Hong Kong Advertisers’ Association (HK2A). HK2A is a registered industry organisation representing major advertisers in the Hong Kong market.

Celine has also been nominated by Hong Kong SAR Government to serve in various advisory committees such as the Mass Communication Training Board of Vocational Training Council and the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme under Home Affairs Department.

Ralph is one of the founders and Group Director of a digital and social media communications consulting group called CMRS Group based in Hong Kong. The core business offerings include digital and social media insights, content creation and management, training and consultancy, etc. in Hong Kong, Macau and Southern China region. CMRS Group is the corporate member of Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing (HKAIM) and HK4As. In the past 10 years, his group companies have been winning many regional and local industry awards. Ralph is also received “2015 Digital Marketer of the Year”by HKAIM and became the first batch of Certified Digital Marketer (CDM) endorsed by HKAIM in September 2015.

Ralph is also actively joining various industry and social welfare organizations. He is currently the Chairman of HKAIM, the board member of The Plan HK, consultant of “Pilot Cyber Youth Outreaching Project” by Caritas, The Boys’and Girls’ Clubs Association (BGCA) and Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) , consultant of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), and committee members of Standing Committee on Public Engagement and Partnership of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), and Hong Kong Strategy for Financial Literacy (HKSFL). From March 2016, Ralph is also appointed as a board member of a new NGO called Social Career in Hong Kong. He is also an appointed member of CreatSmart Initiative Vetting Committee of Create Hong Kong.

Besides, Ralph has been frequently going to local and overseas universities, media, trade and social welfare organizations as a guest speaker, part-time lecturer, trainer and judge. He is recently appointed as members of the Academic Advisory Committee of Division of Communication, College of International Education, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Academic Advisory Committee of Marketing Department of Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

Melanie has over 20 years of media experience. She started her media career, right after her University Graduation. She joined JWT in as Media Planner, and was promoted to Business Director in 1996.

She was made Deputy General Manager to help setting up Mindshare HK in 1997, and promoted to Managing Director in 2004. Under her leadership, Mindshare stayed at as the biggest media agency in HK and voted by clients as best media agency 6 years in a row.

Melanie took on the role as GroupM Hong Kong CEO in 2012. Since then the group continue to develop on digital capabilities, and has strengthen different digital offerings across all GroupM agencies, including programmatic and performance, and stayed strong on overall communication strategies planning and integration across all platforms, which is proven by awards and new business wins in recent years.

She is the chairman of HKTAM Committee and remains active in HK4As and HKMA-DMC contributing to advertising industry development.

Mr. FONG Po Kiu, Francis is currently a Member of HKSAR Election Committee, Information Technology Subsector; Honorary President of Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF); Founding & Honorary Chairman of Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing (HKAIM); President of Hong Kong Consumer Electronics Alliance (HKCEA); Founder of e-Learning Consortium (eLC); Co-opted Member of IT Expert Advisory Group, Consumer Council; Member of Standing Committee on Technological Developments, Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD); Member of RTHK Programme Advisory Panel, Radio Television Hong Kong; Member of ICT Services Advisory Committee, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC); Member of Advisory Committee of Médecins Sans Frontières Hong Kong; Member of Fundraising and Communications Committee, Oxfam Hong Kong; Member of Communications Advisory Panel, Hong Kong Red Cross, etc.

He has been working in ICT Industry for over 20 years, he introduced many pioneer products and technologies into Hong Kong. He is also a columnist in several popular newspaper and magazines, such as am730, Hong Kong Economic Journal, Oriental Daily News, PC Market and e-zone.

Keith Tam is a communication designer, typographer, researcher and educator. He is currently Principal Lecturer in Communication Design at the Hong Kong Design Institute. He is also Distinguished Research Fellow at the Type Lab of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University, as well as Researcher at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts. His previous appointments include Associate Professor and Director of the MA Information Design programme at the University of Reading, UK; leader of the Communication Design discipline and founding leader of the Information Design Lab at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Assistant Professor at the Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, Canada, amongst others. Keith’s research focuses on the interrelationship between typography and information design, particularly in multilingual communication. Wayfinding is another strand of Keith’s work. Three tourist guides under Keith’s direction had won two merit recognitions at the Design for Asia Awards, organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre. In 2016, Keith received a ‘Best Design Educator’ award from the Hong Kong Designers Association.

A lecturer at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Vocational Training Council). She is a graduate of London City University, Exeter University, and the University of Nottingham (all in the UK), and the University of Hong Kong. She worked as an audit member of staff and graduate mistress in school as commercial panel prior to joining the Council. Her work on curriculum design and assessment has helped secondary school teachers integrate enterprise education into secondary school curricula. Her research interests include formulating new models for competency and informal learning strategies to provide new insights into improving personal education within vocational training and at university level. Currently, she is responsible for performing teaching duties including supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork placement at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Chai Wan). In her teaching profession, she developed an digital informal learning system to assist students in learning. In the academic year of AY 2017/18, she also being involved in carrying out to develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials for the modules of "Database & Digital Marketing" and "Event Planning" and "Marketing Research Methods". For contribution helpself to the soceity, she also acts as Executive Committee Member of Vice President for the Hong Kong University of Alumni Association (HKUEdAA) and acts as coordinator for the Gem & Jewellery Alumni Association (GJAA).

Francis Hung launched his advertising career by winning gold and best copy-writing at HK4As student award. He worked as a creative director at Publicis and BBDO Hong Kong and before that as an art director for Bates and JWT.

Joined the HK Polytechnic University in 2007 as an assistant professor, Francis has headed the advertising discipline at School of Design for the past seven years.

He has granted the accolades of D&AD, London International Advertising Awards, Spikes Asia, Asian Marketing Effectiveness Award, LongXi and Red Dot Award along the way.

Francis is now the scheme leader of BA(Hons) Scheme in Design, programme leader of Minor in Design and the chair of Undergraduate Programme Committee, School of Design.

Johnny Wong – Co-founder, CEO of Hotmob Limited and Co-founder of Green Tomato Limited. Johnny has 18 years of experience in mobile solutions and digital marketing. He established the first premium mobile advertising network in Hong Kong in 2007 and expanded to Japan in 2015 offering cross border advertising solutions for the market. Johnny was being recognized the Digital Marketer of 2015 and is the Vice-Chairman of HKAIM.

Raymond Ho, Brand Management & Digital Marketing Director of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited, joined the Hutchison Telecom Group in 2003 as an FMCG veteran. He played key roles within the Group’s mobile and fixed-line businesses, spanning branding and marketing communications, content development and marketing, sales management and customer servicing. Innovative projects that splashed the territory and attracted eyeballs in the past years included award-winning fixed-mobile cross platform services on smartphones and tablets such as 3 e-books, home entertainment, KKBOX music, WhatsApp and Facebook packages, gaming and eSports programmes.

Raymond is currently the Chairman of the Hong Kong Advertisers Association, Vice- Chairman of the Hong Kong Audit Bureau of Circulations, and Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing. He sat on the vetting panel for Create HK from 2011 to 2016.

Dr. Jeffrey Hui, a leading strategic i-Marketing expert in the region, is currently Managing Director of InnoSights Limited and Chairperson of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing (HKIM). As a well-rounded marketing and training professional, Jeffrey served at various top-notch organizations, including P&G, Cathy Pacific, TVB, RTHK, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and King’s Glory Education. As an experienced marketing and training consultant, Jeffrey has been invited to conduct a vast range of training, workshops and talks (over 1,000 sessions) and to provide consulting services to various high-profile corporations, including: Google, L’Oreal, Gillette, GSK, 3M, Pfizer, Nestle, HSBC, UBS, Deloitte, Cathay Pacific, Inchcape, New World Group, etc. Jeffrey has lectured at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, Chu Hai College.

OATH BIG IDEA CHAIR AWARDS 2018

The Big Idea Chair Awards is an unique proprietary award that recognizes outstanding work that builds brand love and establishes meaningful connections with consumers in the digital arena. This year marks the 10th year of the Big Idea Chair Awards in Asia: as the market pioneer to give praise to creativity, innovation, imagination and the elusive big idea, we continue to honor the most extraordinary creative minds in Asia’s online community by introducing seventeen awards to companies in Hong Kong and five awards to those around Asia who have held impressive campaigns on Oath and its network.

The Big Idea Chair Awards 2018 is composed of 17 Hong Kong Awards.

RULES

Entry Fee: No entry fees will be charged

  1. Entries are only eligible if the advertisements or campaigns start running in Oath Hong Kong network between June 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 (“Eligibility Period”). Work that does not fall within the Eligibility Period will be disqualified.
  2. Entrants must be the relevant advertisers, media agencies, creative agencies or their respective authorized representatives which place such advertisements or campaigns described above.
  3. All advertisements must be designed for public exposure.
  4. Each entry can be submitted to a maximum of four (4) HONG KONG awards. Yahoo! Hong Kong Limited (“Yahoo Hong Kong”) reserves the right to shortlist entries in the event of multiple entries. Any entry submitted for more than four (4) awards will be disqualified.
  5. a) In general, there will be one Outstanding award and two Merit awards (collectively, “Awards”) in each category. The categories are:

    • Best Acquisition Campaign
    • Best Branding Campaign
    • Best Content Marketing
    • Best Video Strategy
    • Best Targeting Strategy
    • Best Integrated Solution
    • Best Mobile Strategy
    • Best Native Ad Campaign
    • Best Native Ad (For SME)

    b) There will be one Winner in the following categories:

    • Advertising Agency of the year
    • Media Agency of the year
    • The Perfect 10 – Advertiser
    • The Perfect 10 – Advertising Agency
    • The Perfect 10 – Media Agency
  6. Entrants must be able to provide consent from the relevant advertisers, media agencies or creative agencies, as appropriate, regarding the submission. All materials presented must be original work, the ownership and all intellectual property rights in which must belong to the entrant. If any material or data is found to be untrue, misleading, incomplete, misrepresented, illegal or infringes third party’s rights in any way, the Entry will be disqualified.
  7. No person shall use any intellectual property rights of Yahoo Hong Kong or its affiliates, or otherwise to associate himself or herself with Yahoo Hong Kong or its affiliates in any way.
  8. Yahoo Hong Kong reserves the right to use the Award winners’ names, application forms and any material submitted for the Entries in published material and advertising connected with the Awards at no cost. Entrants to the Awards irrevocably authorize Yahoo Hong Kong and its affiliates to copy, reproduce or publish their applications, materials for educational and promotional purpose. Yahoo Hong Kong and its affiliates will not be liable for any inaccuracy, error or omission contained in any such copy, reproduction or publication.
  9. Entries are accepted on the condition that all materials submitted will become the property of Yahoo Hong Kong and will not be returned.
  10. Yahoo Hong Kong reserves the absolute right to make, interpret, apply and resolve dispute with respect to or in connection with the rules and conditions of the Awards.   11. The rules and conditions of the Awards are to be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong.
