2013-09-09

66% of online adults move across PC and mobile platforms every day. Here’s a look at their behaviors in today’s multi-screen world.

In the last three years, the growth of smartphones and tablets has doubled the amount of time Americans spend online, says this week’s infographic, and they’re spending most of that time jumping between mobile and PC platforms. Based on a study by Jumptap, the infographic explores how demographics, content, and time of day influence consumers’ cross-screen behavior. With these insights, marketers can better understand how consumers engage with content throughout the day on different platforms, and tweak their campaigns to engage those moving targets.

Here’s a variety of findings from the infographic:

• 65% of users ages 18-24 use both mobile and PC platforms daily

• 55% of users access weather content from smartphones (vs 36% on PCs and 9% on tablets)

• 51% of all online time is spent on mobile devices (39% on smartphones and 12% on tablets)

• PCs dominate daytime usage; tablets rule the night; smartphones are constant companions
